‘Pokemon Go’ Latest Updates: Useful New Items, Plus Changes on Special Attacks, Resistance & Immunity
Game developer Niantic recently announced the coming of the biggest update on "Pokémon Go". While the announcement teases trainers of a revamped Gym gameplay experience, players should pay attention on other important aspect of the "Pokémon Go" latest update - new items which will prove beneficial during the game and some huge changes on bonus attacks.
"Pokémon Go" New Items
As posted on Pokémon Go Live, "After defeating a Raid Boss, you'll receive a collection of rewards, including some new items obtained only by defeating a Raid Boss: Rare Candies, Golden Razz Berries, and two types of Technical Machines - Fast and Charged."
How to use this mysterious Rare Candy? When this Rare Candy is used on a Pokémon, it copies the said Pokémon's Candy. Just make sure to use this Rare Candy on a Pokémon which you know has a candy beneficial to your own Pokémon.
The Golden Razz Berries boost your chances of catching a Pokémon encountered in the wild. This can also be used to fully recover a Pokémon's motivation meter. Then there are Technical Machines items which can be used to permanently teach a Pokémon a new Fast Attack or Charged Attack.
"Pokémon Go" Huge Changes on Bonus Attacks
Meanwhile, Comic Book reported that Niantic recently updated the "Pokémon Go" game master file particularly the section where the game engine determines how much damage attacks are supposed to do. Note that the same game core mechanics are applied on "Pokémon Go". As example, a Water-Type Pokémon is strong against Fire-Type Pokémon but weak against Grass-Type Pokémon.
Super Effective Attack Bonus
Moving to game proper, a Pokémon attacking another Pokémon they are weak against using "super effective" bonus damage previously gets x1.25, but now it increases to x1.4. A "double super effective" now gets x1.96 boost compared to x1.5625 before.
The STAB Bonus gets a little slash on the latest update, from x1.25 down to x1.2 bonus. But it's getting better and better. Previously, a Pokémon doing a super effective attack with STAB gets x1.56 bonus, now it is at x1.68. If a Pokémon does a double super effective attack with STAB, the number reaches x2.352 bonus.
Resistance and Immunity
Pokémon attacked by a weaker Pokémon previously gets 80 percent damage resistance. Now, it drops down to 71.4 percent. A Pokémon which is immune to a specific attack will now just receive 50 percent of the total damage.
