The next Google flagship smartphones are likely to arrive later this year but thanks to some inside sources, we were able to get some specifications of what would appear on Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. So what are the specifications of these Google Pixel smartphones currently codenamed "Walleye" and "Taimen"?

Google Pixel 2 XL Codename "Taimen"

According to sources of XDA Developers, the larger Google device codenamed "Taimen" will feature a 5.99-inch display with a 1440p OLED panel provided by LG. This Taimen will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 clocked at 2.45GHz frequency, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB storage.

This Google "Taimen" smartphone is said to sport a smaller bezel compared to the first version of Pixel XL. The back will have a similar two-toned glass and metal finish. However, the glass window is will be relocated near the top and will no longer enclose the fingerprint scanner. While there is no finality on the camera feature, it is said that "Taimen" will feature a single camera with dual LED flash.

Google Pixel 2 Codename "Walleye"

Google Pixel 2 which has a codename "Walleye" is the smaller version which features 4.97-inch display with FHD resolution. This smaller Google Pixel 2 will also be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 which makes it one of the premium handsets with smaller display. In addition, there will be 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage.

The same source also suggested that this "Walleye" will be "almost identical" to last year's smaller Pixel, this include similarly large bezels. The main difference externally would be stereo speakers which will replace the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Release Date, Price

According to Tech Radar, the two flagship Google smartphones are expected to arrive in or around October 2017. However, according to one of their sources, the Pixel 2 might have a loftier price tag. The first Google Pixel were sold at $649 (£599, AU$1,079), or $769 (£719, AU$1,269) for the XL version.
