The NBA offseason continues to roll along. Fans are now a few days into free agency, and they have already seen quite a bit of action. Several marquee players have already been traded and several new deals have been agreed to.

Carmelo Anthony Trade Update

Days into free agency, the Rockets general manager Daryl Morey will tap the brakes on the chase of high-dollar free agents to instead go bargain hunting. The Rockets will likely seek only one more free agent addition.

Chron reported that the potential to trade for Carmelo Anthony could be as improbable. Furthermore, Anthony has let the Knicks know he would like to be traded to the Rockets or Cavaliers, an individual familiar with his thinking said.

Early on Monday Anthony was "open" to waiving his no-trade-clause to play in Houston or Cleveland. However, multiple individuals with knowledge of the Rockets' planning said on Monday that the team is in no active talks toward a trade for Anthony.

Hence, Morey would not comment in any way about trade talks. With forwarding Ryan Anderson the next-highest paid Rockets player after Chris Paul and James Harden, the Knicks have not been interested in building a trade around a veteran signed longer than Anthony and who plays the same position as their most important player, Kristaps Porzingas.

Gordon Hayward Is Going To The Celtics

According to ESPN, Gordon Hayward, the prize of this summer's free-agent class, announced Tuesday that he's going to play for the Celtics. He chose their maximum-contract offer over those from the Utah Jazz, his team since 2010, and the Miami Heat.

The 6-foot-8 small forward has agreed to a four-year, $128 million deal. The deal also includes a player option for the final year, sources said, which would allow Hayward to return to free agency after 10 years of NBA service when he could pursue another big-money contract and command a starting salary at 35 percent of the salary cap.
