SEOUL, KOREA - Samsung Electronics Co. is developing its own Bixby speaker. It is set to rival smart home speakers such as Amazon Echo, Google Home, and Apple HomePod. Here are the details and everything that is known so far.

Samsung Bixby To Take On Other Speakers

Samsung is reported to be finally developing its own voice-activated speaker. It is powered by its digital assistant Bixby. Several leading companies already have existing voice-activated smart home speakers. Hence, the upcoming Samsung Bixby is said to rival existing Amazon Echo and Google Home smart home speakers. It will also rival the upcoming Microsoft Cortana-based speaker that is due in the fall this year, and the Apple Siri-powered HomePod that is set for debut in December, Wall Street Journal reports.

Samsung Bixby Speaker Features

Samsung has been working on its own Bixby speaker for more than a year. It has internally codenamed it, Vega.

The upcoming Samsung Bixby is a standalone speaker geared with its voice-activated Bixby assistant. Just like other voice-activated speakers, it is designed to carry out a variety of tasks. It will be able to deliver convenience to its user. Samsung's upcoming voice-activated speaker can listen to commands or requests and then spurt out a response. Many of the speaker's features and other specifications are yet to be decided, Redmond Pie reports.

Samsung Bixby Speaker Release Date

Samsung still needs to release the full-fledged English language version of the Bixby assistant for the Galaxy S8. Hence, their priority is to release first the Bixby's English version. With this, Samsung Bixby release will be delayed but it is most definitely in the works. Everybody can expect that Samsung will finally launch the Samsung Bixby speakers after successfully rolling out the Bixby assistant on the Galaxy S8, Wccftech reports. Fans can wait for more details to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
