AMD Radeon RX Vega Gaming GPU Specs: 1630MHz Clock Speed, 8GB HBM2 & 484GB/s Memory Bandwidth
Finally, additional details about the upcoming AMD Radeon RX Vega Gaming graphics card have surfaced. Based from the latest benchmark on this AMD Vega graphics card, it carries 1630MHz GPU clock speed, 8GB HBM2 running at 945MHz and 484GB/s of memory bandwidth.
According to Khalid Moammer of WCCFTech, the upcoming AMD Radeon RX Vega Gaming graphics card is 30MHz more compared to Radeon RX Vega Frontier Edition. Now while they are both powered by the second generation of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM2), the Gaming GPU only has 8GB of HBM unlike the Vega FE with 16GB of HBM.
The good thing is, they both have identical HBM2 frequency of 484GB/s of memory bandwidth. The explanation is simple - 1GB/s of bandwidth is equivalent to per mm² of Vega 10, and Vega 10 has 484mm² in size as recently confirmed by Raja Koduri, Chief Architect of Radeon Technologies Group.
AMD Radeon RX Vega Gaming vs NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
Based on a recent 3DMark 11 Performance Benchmark conducted for AMD Radeon RX Vega Gaming graphics card, the latter manages to score 31,873 graphics points. According to Moammer, this score is almost four thousand points ahead of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080. However, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is almost seven thousand points ahead of the upcoming gaming Vega graphics card with over 38 thousand points.
This confirmed the initial comparison made by Moammer back in May as posted on WCCFTech that the Radeon RX Vega is AMD's graphics card to beat NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080, not the Ti version. So without further ado, here is the updated comparison chart of the current and upcoming AMD graphic cards:
