'Mass Effect' Latest Update: 'Mass Effect: Andromeda' Update 1.09 Silently Removes Denuvo Anti-Tamper Tech
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" latest patch was set to improve stability and facial animations. However, it seems like it also did something else that we weren't aware of at the time of the update's reveal.
"Mass Effect" Update 1.09 Silently Removes Denuvo Anti-Tamper Tech
According to WCCF Tech, the "Mass Effect Andromeda" 1.09 update was released by Bioware some days ago. The patch fixed various single player bugs and added new multiplayer content and features.
However, it seems that the update also removed Denuvo from the game. The removal of the anti-tamper technology wasn't mentioned in the official patch notes, but it appears that Andromeda isn't being protected from privacy by Denuvo as of patch 1.09. Whether the removal was intentional is uncertain at this point.
Interestingly, the "Mass Effect Andromeda" update 1.05 apparently included a new Denuvo version to the game. This isn't the first time that the Denuvo tech has been removed from a game through a post-launch update, PC Gamer reported.
Bethesda also removed the technology from DOOM following the game's release as Denuvo said that the anti-tamper tech was removed as it had fulfilled its purpose.
"The simple reason why Denuvo Anti-Tamper was removed from Doom was that it had accomplished its purpose by keeping the game safe from piracy during the initial sales window," Denuvo's Robert Hernandez told Kotaku back in December of 2016.
The protection on Doom held up for nearly four months, which is an impressive accomplishment Hernandez for such a high-profile game. "Mass Effect Andromeda" is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
"Mass Effect Andromeda Patch" 1.08 Expands Male Romance Options
BioWare has released "Mass Effect Andromeda patch 1.08" last month, which adds more character creation options and expands the male romance options for Scott Ryder. Patch 1.08 addresses community feedback, and according to Bioware, offers "continued improvements" to the game.
Community feedback has been addressed in the update, and players now have more character creator options at their disposal. "We've expanded the options available in the character creator, giving you greater control over your Ryder's appearance", Bioware writes.
Two new heads were added, one male and one female, as well as a new complexion option and a greater range of available skin tones. Bioware also unlocked all hairstyles for both sexes and added a new bald option.
