'Gran Turismo Sport' Closed Beta 1.08 Update: Tire Wear, Car Damage & Fuel Depletion

"Gran Turismo (GT) Sport" has yet to be released and yet game developer Polyphony Digital is making sure gamers will have the best experience ever for a brand new racing video game. This time, the game developer released another update that will make the feel even more realistic.

As posted on GTPlanet, the current "GT Sport" closed beta got an update that will surely make a big impact on the game once it is released on PlayStation 4, tentatively, on the fourth quarter of this year. This 84MB "GT Sport" 1.08 update would create rather a big impact on races at introduces serious changes when it comes to car damages.

"Gran Turismo" is known to bring the closest real-life experience when it comes to racing. As such, this update brings it closer to reality by upgrading tire wear, car damage, and fuel depletion. In addition to these effects, players will be penalized if involved in collisions during races.

The idea is to help minimize instances of dirty drivers getting little or no repercussions for their actions. Here is the full patch note of the latest "GT Sport" 1.08 update:

Main Features Implemented (1) Time penalties will now be incurred if collisions between cars take place under certain conditions.
(2) The issue that caused camera settings to be reset when restarting a race has been fixed.
Other Improvements and Adjustments (1) Various issues have been addressed.
(2) Furthermore, after this patch has been applied, we are planning to hold races that feature tyre wear, fuel depletion, and car damage. Be sure to give them a try!

GT Sport forum member Andrew Dunbar described how these new updates affected the gameplay on "GT Sport", "Some form of mechanical damage has been added. Crashed my BMW at dragon tail, now have red indicator on engine and right hand front wheel. Car pulls to the left pretty badly too. HUD changed again. There are now static pit crews in the pit lane."

According to other forum members, this update can even be experienced even during practice race. One of them also mentioned that effects of this update, in particular are the effects of wear of tire and fuel consumption, have faster rates, accelerating the damages and fuel loss by the second.
