NBA Trade Rumors: Celtics Sacrificing Marcus Smart, Jae Crowder, Marcus Morris and More for Grizzlies' Marc Gasol
In the latest NBA trade rumors, the Boston Celtics might need to come up with a massive package deal to take away Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies. The offer will likely include Jae Crowder and the Marcuses (Marcus Smart and Marcus Morris).
A recent report by the Boston Herald shared previous statements from Danny Ainge. The Celtics general manager and president of basketball operations admitted that he likes their current unit, but it does not stop there.
"No, we're not comfortable yet. We do like our team, but we're still going to search things out to see if we can find anything that makes us better this offseason," Ainge shared.
The latest player connected to Boston is Gasol. It remains unknown what the Celtics will do to land him, although it surely requires a tremendous sacrifice. The 32-year-old is set to earn over $22.6 million for the next three seasons.
Metro US came up with a possible offer that is going to work when it comes to the financial aspect of a potential trade for Gasol. The package deal has Crowder, Smart, and Morris. Point guard Terry Rozier and forward Jordan Mickey will join the trio.
The Celtics are giving up five guys for an All-Star center that could complete their super team. Gasol will play alongside Isaiah Thomas, Gordon Hayward, and Al Horford. Aside from adding star power, he would improve the team's frontline which lost Amir Johnson and Kelly Olynyk via free agency.
It is an interesting proposition, although Boston may be hesitant to pull the trigger. Smart and Crowder are key role players for them. Meanwhile, they just added Morris via a trade with the Detroit Pistons. The organization parted ways with Avery Bradley just to get Morris from Detroit.
