Florida State Seminoles vs. NC State Wolfpack: Watch Live TV Stream Online for Free; Preview
Two ACC division rivals face off on Saturday as the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 8:00 p.m. ET, and you can also watch the live TV stream online for free here or here.
Florida State entered the season as the favorite to win the ACC, and the Seminoles have lived up to the hype so far. Florida State won its first five games by an average of 39.6 points, including two straight shutouts. The Seminoles biggest win came two weeks ago against then-No. 10 Clemson, when Florida State trailed 28-14 early in the third quarter but closed the game on a 35-9 run. It was the team's first victory over a top-10 opponent since 2009.
Last week, Florida State played its first road game of the year against South Florida. The Seminoles led by just three early in the third quarter but then scored 17 straight points to put the game out of reach.
Florida State has been equally strong on both sides of the ball this season. The Seminoles rank sixth in the nation in scoring offense and seventh in scoring defense.
Some of the Seminoles' impressive statistics are skewed by games against inferior competition. In the opening of the season, Florida State faced two FCS opponents and defeated them by a combined score of 124-3.
Still there's no denying the depth of talent on the Seminoles roster, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Twelve different Florida State players have scored this year, including six wide receivers.
Indeed, seven Seminoles have at least 10 receptions this season, and all seven of them have eclipsed 100 yards receiving. The top two threats are Kelvin Benjamin and Kenny Shaw, who have 419 yards and four touchdowns between them.
The Florida State running game has spread the wealth as well. Five different running backs have rushed for over 100 yards this season, led by senior Chris Thompson. Thompson has rushed for 431 yards and five touchdowns in the team's first five games. It's been a remarkable comeback for the Florida native, who missed most of last season after breaking two vertebrae.
NC State, meanwhile, is coming off a shootout loss to Miami (FL). The Wolfpack allowed a conference record 566 passing yards to Hurricanes quarterback Stephen Morris and trailed 23-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Wolfpack did come back to tie the game with just under two minutes left, but quarterback Mike Glennon threw an interception with 48 seconds to go that led to the go-ahead touchdown.
Last season, Florida State crushed the Wolfpack, 34-0. However, NC State has a habit of knocking off highly-regarded Seminoles squads. The Wolfpack have won four out of the last six times they have faced a nationally-ranked Florida State team. This includes a 28-24 NC State win in 2010, the last time these two faced off in Raleigh.
