Manny Pacquiao vs...: Predicting How The New Year Will Look For Pacman
2012 was not a good year for the former top pound for pound boxer in the world, Manny Pacquiao. He fought twice in 2012 and lost both fights. Granted, he probably got robbed against Timothy Bradley in June but there is no disputing his loss against Juan Manuel Marquez when Pacquiao was on the wrong side of one of the most brutal knockout punches in the history of the sweet science.
Now that it is a new year, we certainly hope Manny Pacquiao can change the tide and return to his glory days in 2013. That, of course, is mostly depending on if the fight decides to retire or not. His mother and his wife are both urging Manny Pacquiao to hand up his gloves, but it seems like the fighter is determined to get back into the ring. If that happens, here is how we believe 2013 will play out for Pacquiao.
We believe Pacquiao will likely take a rematch against Juan Manuel Marquez in May. It will be the fifth fight between the two and a lot of people will be seriously concerned for the Pacman's well-being. However, we actually believe Pacquiao will redeem himself by defeating Marquez by late round TKO. You must remember, Pacquiao was winning their fourth fight and looked to be on his way to knocking out Marquez before getting put to sleep by a brutal punch he never saw coming.
After defeating Marquez by TKO, some people will see the win as redemption and a return to the eliteness he once had. That means people will once again start begging to see him face Floyd Mayweather. Now that Pacquiao is likely willing to take much less money for a mega fight against Mayweather, we believe the fight will have a great chance of actually happening toward the end of the year in December.
We believe the fight will break pay per view records and will be one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year. It may not be quite as big as it would have been two years ago, but it will still be a huge fight. Unfortunately, we think Manny Pacquiao will end up losing a one-sided decision to Floyd Mayweather.
But don't be surprised if they fight again in 2014...
