Scott Sterling was found dead on Tuesday of an apparent drug overdose. The son of Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was discovered in his Malibu home after he hadn't been heard from for several days, according to the Associated Press.

But now word has come out that Scott Sterling might not have lived the privileged life you would expect of the son of a multimillionaire. After Deadspin posted the story of Scott Sterling's death, a reporter who covered the Clippers back in the 1980s told the website about an incident from when Scott Sterling was a young boy.

Before Scott Sterling was found dead, he allegedly was forced to strip and was spanked in front of Ron Grinker, the agent for Clippers draft pick Danny Manning.

"As Grinker told it, the kid misbehaved in some way," the writer told DeadSpin. "And so, Grinker recounted, Sterling told the kid to "get naked" in front of the guest. Sterling then spanked the poor kid's bare ass in front of Grinker and god knows who else (possibly Manning). So as I read about the death of Sterling's son today, I was reminded of this anecdote and wonder how many more humiliations this kid was subjected to by his slumlord father."

As we previously reported, Scott Sterling faced some troubles later in his life as well. The attorney was arrested back in 1999 after a reported shooting. Philip Schied was shot in the legs during an argument at the Sterling mansion, though Scott Sterling claimed he shot his friend in self-defense, and no charges were filed.

Donald Sterling acquired the Clippers in 1981, according to MSNBC. He moved the team from San Diego to Los Angeles three years later. This year's Clippers squad sits at 25-8 and in first place in the Pacific Division. The squad recently won 17 games in a row and was undefeated for the entire month of December.
