Houston climbed to two games over .500 on Saturday with a victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The Rockets won thanks to a dominating performance in the paint, where they outscored Brooklyn 60-24. Center Omer Asik led the charge with 20 points and 16 rebounds. With the win, Houston improved to 7-1 on the season when Asik hauled in 16 or more boards, according to ESPN.
The rest of Houston's starters did their part as well. Point guard Jeremy Lin scored 14 points and was just an assist shy of a double-double. Meanwhile, fellow guard James Harden led all scorers with 29 points, while forward Chandler Parsons added 16 points and a career-high 11 assists.
Lin has been busy over the past several days. As the Salt Lake Tribune reports, the point guard braved a snow storm to attend the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. He came to watch the screening of "Linsanity," a documentary showcasing his rise to fame.
"As the documentary showed, there were too many things that happened in my life that were beyond my control," Jeremy Lin said at the screening. "And I'll be the first one to admit that."
Jeremy Lin also attended a film session with his teammates last Thursday, hoping to right the ship after a seven-game losing streak. The Rockets have won two games in a row since that meeting and appear to have fixed some of their recent offensive problems. Houston is averaging 103.5 points per game over its last four contests, including 24 points per game in the paint, according to NBA.com.
Utah has won three of its last four games over the Rockets, including an 11-point victory back on November 19. Jefferson had 14 points and 16 rebounds in that contest, while Rockets forward Patrick Patterson led Houston with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
However, the Rockets got revenge a few weeks later with a 124-116 victory. Asik had a double-double in that contest with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Jeremy Lin had 19 points and eight assists. Forwards Carlos Delfino and Greg Smith each added 13 points off the bench.
