Deion's Daughter Bikini League: Deiondra Sanders Joins Atlanta Peaches, Bikini Basketball Association [PHOTOS & VIDEO]
According to Yahoo! Sports, Deiondra Sanders is joining the Atlanta Peaches for the inaugural season of the Bikini Basketball Association. According to the BBA website, the league will begin play in June 2013 and features six teams of 14 to 21 athletes. The other squads are Miami Spice, Orlando Lady Cats, Minnesota Mist, Illinois Heart and Philadelphia Diamonds.
However, the NFL Hall of Famer was apparently not too thrilled with his daughter's choice of sport, at least at first.
"My dad was kind of upset, but that's like any parent who just sees bikini league," Deiondra Sanders told the Fan 590 in Toronto. "He thought I was gonna be out there in a bikini. He [saw] a picture of our uniform and stuff like that, so I think once he saw that we're actually covered up a little bit, he wasn't as concerned."
Indeed, it appears the elder Sanders has come around. As USA Today notes, Deiondra posted a photo on her Twitter page showing her and her father smiling after she signed her bikini league contract.
While Deion's daughter is clearly attractive, she likely also had to prove her athletic prowess to be chosen for this bikini league. When the Miami Spice held auditions for their club back in September, reps told The Miami New Times that they wanted girls who know how to play.
"They can expect to sweat their hair out and have their basketball skills tested," reps said of the auditions. "Dribbling, shooting, passing, running, scrimmaging and more. We will also have a interview process where we ask them an array of questions to see if they have the mind frame and personality that we seek."
Still, the Bikini Basketball Association has not been without controversy. According to HoopsVibe, the Chicago bikini squad, the Desire, was recently shut down after general manager Donovan Price was accused of sexual misconduct.
Deion's daughter has not been immune to controversy either. According to TMZ, Deiondra Sanders took to Twitter back in 2011 to slam her father's ex-wife, Pilar.
"All u had to do was be a supportive wife," the daughter wrote. "Only thing u ever cared about doing with my dad is reality shows.
"Pilar stop tryna play the victim. Maybe if u would of actually loved my dad and not loved the life he gave you we would be here today."
"Can't believe I came all the way down here to get mistreated and disrespected," she wrote. "Lesson learned.
"I'm just disappointed with myself LOL I just gotta be more careful with who I be true too [sic], Everyone doesn't deserve loyalty."
