Team Arsenal was keen on bringing Barcelona striker David Villa to Emirates Stadium, but they overshot the January transfer window deadline. And now, they are not too keen on renewing the bid during the summer.
According to the People website, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger will not turn his attention elsewhere with the summer transfer window in mind. It is also understood that Wenger now wants to hire younger players rather than the 31-year-old Spaniard, who holds the record for having scored the highest number of goals for his nation. Villa has scored 51 goals off 82 appearances for Spain.

Villa was strongly linked to the North London club in January and it was reported that the World Cup-winning Spaniard would join the Gunners in the closing days of the January transfer window.
What's more, the club's contract negotiator, Dick Law, too had flown over to Spain to get the proceedings underway, but they failed to materialise.
However, Villa's agent, Victor Onate, had earlier insisted that the striker intends to stay with Barcelona.
"There is always speculation about David because he is a great forward, but his future is in the hands of Barcelona," Onate told Sky Sports News.
"They have a contract and it is important to always respect such documents."
The center-forward has been linked to all the major English Premier League clubs in the past with Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all taking interest in him.
Villa has made just 13 league appearances this season, but he is still sought after by a host of Premier League clubs.
It has also been reported that Barcelona would be willing to let the Spanish international leave the club before his rankings plummets further. No doubt, Barcelona would be looking for an ideal price for the former Valencia hit-man in the market.
Besides, Barcelona would have been accustomed to playing without Villa for he has missed much of the last season with a broken leg, not to speak of the fact that his form has been questionable.
Also, the striker has not been able to secure a regular spot at Nou Camp with likes of Lionel Messi being around.
