As the Los Angeles Times noted, Andrews was reporting along pit row on Sunday when the rapper approached her on-camera. 50 Cent then tried to kiss her on the lips, but Andrews moved her head to the side just in time -perhaps showing off the quick reflexes she honed on "Dancing with the Stars."

Andrews then tried to get away from 50 Cent, telling the rapper that she was trying to find racer Danica Patrick. But the "In Da Club" singer followed her during her unsuccessful quest.

As Huffington Post noted, several people on Twitter immediately made comparisons to Joe Namath's infamous interview with ESPN's Suzy Kolber during Monday Night Football. According to USA Today, Namath was on the sidelines for a Jets game in 2003 when Kolber went up to him for an interview. A clearly intoxicated Namath rambled through his answers and ultimately said that he wanted to "kiss" the reporter.

"Now that 50 Cent has kissed Erin Andrews, I need Helen Mirren to make out with Tom Rinaldi," wrote Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch.

"Namath remains best/worst [kiss]," added Jason McIntyre of TheBigLead. "50/Erin was awkward."

According to USA Today, the hunt for Danica Patrick was part of Erin Andrews' job at pit row. It was her first Daytona 500 for Fox after leaving ESPN last year.

"[Her assignment was take a fun walk in the pits and see what people are talking about," Fox Sports co-president Eric Shanks told the website.

As Yahoo noted, 50 Cent was at the race with several other African-American celebrities, including fellow rapper T.I. and former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis. However, 50 Cent was apparently not impressed with the diversity at the race.

"Damn, I don't see no black people lol," 50 Cent wrote.

Lewis, meanwhile, was given the all-important task of waving the green flag to start the race.

"I'm a little nervous," he told the Washington Post. "[Driver] Brad [Keselowski] texted me on the way in. The one rule is don't drop the flag."

After failing with his kiss attempt, 50 Cent spent the rest of the Daytona 500 in racer Mark Martin's pit stall, per Aol Sporting News. The 54-year-old Martin is apparently a fan of hip hop music and even tried to get the rapper to change his name.

"We told 50 Cent if we won the race, he would have to change his game to 55 Cent for one day," Martin said. "I was trying really hard to get that name change for one day."

However, this bet became moot, as Martin and his No. 55 car came in third place during the Daytona 500, finishing behind winner Jimmie Johnson.
