Indeed, Lin has been a solid addition for the Rockets this season. However, he has not been quite as proficient in other sports.
As Yahoo Sports noted, video recently surfaced online of the point guard facing Houston's general manager, Daryl Morey, in table tennis. Somewhat surprisingly, Morey more than held his own in the competition.
Jeremy Lin was also in the news earlier this week when the NBA announced a group of overseas games for the 2013-2014 preseason. According to CBS Sports, the Rockets will face the Indiana Pacers twice in Asia, including a contest in Taiwan, the native land of Lin's parents.
"The most wild game that we will have all season will be over there; I can promise you that," Jeremy Lin told the Houston Chronicle. "Their fans are crazy, man. It's going to be crazy."
But on Wednesday, Lin and the rest of the Rockets will face a Mavericks team seeking revenge after Sunday's loss. According to NBA.com, it was the first time in 10 games that Houston had defeated its in-state rival. However, the Rockets have still not won a contest in Dallas since December 18, 2009, when Mavericks star forward Dirk Nowitzki left in the second quarter with an injury.
Still, Dallas may have trouble slowing down a Houston offense that has been explosive this season. As of March 4, the Rockets rank first in the NBA in both scoring and made three-pointer attempts and have scored 115 points or more 20 times this season. Unsurprisingly, the Rockets are 17-3 in those contests.
Houston can distribute the ball as well. According to the Rockets' official game notes, the squad is fourth in the NBA in assists per game and has already racked up 30 assists or more in nine contests this season. The Rockets actually have no players among the top 20 in the league in assists, though Jeremy Lin is 21st with an average of 6.2 per game.
Indeed, Dallas allowed Houston to score at least 100 points in both of the Mavericks' previous wins this season. On December 8, the Mavericks won, 116-109, thanks to 40 points from guard O.J. Mayo, tying his career high. Center Chris Kaman added 20 points despite playing less than 19 minutes. Harden led the Rockets in that contest with 39 points.
In January, the Mavericks blew an 11-point lead but still held on for the five-point victory. Nowitzki led the team in scoring with 19 points, while fellow forward Shawn Marion was a rebound shy of a double-double. Jeremy Lin added 19 points of his own for Houston, while center Omer Asik had 12 points and 15 rebounds.
