Ed Reed Houston Texans Rumors: Would Ravens’ Safety Make Them Super Bowl Contenders?
In case you have yet to hear the latest rumor surrounding Ed Reed, it sounds like he may end up with the Houston Texans. The future hall of fame Safety said that there is "mutual" interest and two teams were set to meet for several hours on Thursday.
"Both of us want to get a championship, going to see if we can work some things out," he told reporters Thursday, according to KRIV-TV in Houston. "Conversations have been great, amazing, on the same page of what needs to get done and what we want to do."
An Ed Reed move to the Houston Texans does make a ton of sense for both sides. The Houston Texans have all of the talent to become Super Bowl frontrunners, but they seemingly lack the leadership and playoff experience that can get them to the promised land. Obviously, Ed Reed can step right into their locker room and become the biggest leader that the team currently has on their roster.
Ed Reed is 34-years-old and past his prime, but even at his advanced age, he still remains one of the better safeties in the National Football League. In addition, Ed Reed is like a coach on the football field. He can help mentor the young defensive studs on the Houston Texans' team and make sure they are always in the right position before each and every play. Reed is also very familiar with all of the quarterbacks and offenses in the AFC. He would be a huge help when it comes to breaking down tape and forming defensive game plans.
Whether or not Ed Reed ultimately lands with the Houston Texans remains to be seen, but it does make an awful lot of sense. We would not be the least bit surprised to see a deal finalized between both parties later today or before the weekend.
