The Rockets are coming off a victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. Houston fell behind by 20 points in the third quarter but held on thanks to a stifling defense that allowed just 17 field goals in the second half. According to the Houston Chronicle, it was the Rockets' biggest comeback in the history of the Toyota Center.
Guard James Harden led the Rockets with 37 points, while fellow guard Jeremy Lin added 24 points and eight assists.
In fact, Lin has now scored in double figures in eight straight and 23 of his last 28 games, according to the Rockets' game notes. Friday's contest was also the point guard's 11th contest of the season with 20 or more points.
Jeremy Lin has also contributed in other ways as well, as he currently ranks fifth in the NBA in steals per game. The Rockets are also 15-5 this season when he doles out at least eight assists.
Thanks to the victory, Houston remains in seventh place in the Western Conference standings, 2.5 games ahead of ninth-place Utah. However, the Rockets are still 1.5 games back of the Warriors, who currently sit in sixth place.
Those Warriors are coming off a blowout loss to the Chicago Bulls on Friday night. Golden State missed its first 11 three point attempts in the game and was outscored 38-17 in the third quarter. Guard Jarrett Jack led the Warriors with 20 points, while forward David Lee added 15 points and eight rebounds.
Golden State has also struggled against the Rockets this season, losing all three contests in the season series. In fact, the Warriors have not beaten Houston since February of last year.
On February 5, Houston tied an NBA record with 23 made three-pointers in a 140-109 win. Jeremy Lin hit five of those threes, while Harden and forward Chandler Parsons each added four. Lee led the Warriors in that contest with 28 points.
A week later, Houston beat the Warriors once again, 116-107. Jeremy Lin had a double-double in that contest with 14 points and 10 assists, and Omer Asik added one as well with 13 points and 15 rebounds. In fact, all five Rockets starters, along with two of their bench players, reached double figures in that game. This helped the squad overcome a 27-point performance from Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.
Earlier this month, the Rockets notched their third victory over the Warriors despite shooting just 36.5 percent from the floor. This time, Parsons led the way with 26 points, while Harden had a double-double. Jeremy Lin also contributed with 15 points on just three-of-nine shooting. Curry once again led the way for Golden State with 24 points.
