Lionel Messi Injury Update: Barcelona Isn’t Too Worried About It

By Brian Ethridge, Posted: 04/10/13 10:34AM EDT

If you have been looking for Lionel Messi injury updates, you are probably having a hard time finding what you're looking for. Everyone close to Barcelona and Messi are doing their best to keep his injury top secret. All we know for certain is that the injury is not expected to be serious and Messi is expected to return soon.

Even if Lionel Messi is unavailable for the team, Barcelona still expects to win.

"Obviously if the best player in the world is not available then it's a handicap for us," assistant coach Jordi Roura, getting increasingly irritated by question after question about Messi, told reporters.

"But we have a lot of other players who can play at a high level and we will do our best to get the right result," he added.

"The players who can play in his position give an absolute guarantee of success."

Lionel Messi is not only the most famous and popular soccer player in the world, he is also one of the most recognized athletes in the world. Coach Jordi Roura may not like getting asked daily about his injury status, but he should expect it. More people tune in to watch Lionel Messi play than any other soccer player in the world. Fans care more about seeing him than they care if Barcelona wins or losses.

The good news is, the injury certainly does not seem to be serious. Even if Lionel Messi misses a game or two, he should not miss any big games or matchups. He is a superstar in every sense of the word and he has the heart of a champion. The last thing he wants to do is let all of his fans down by missing an extended period of time due to injury. We expect him to be back sooner rather than later.
