Kelsey Williams Called 'Too Chunky': Oklahoma City Thunder Cheerleader Criticized In Blog Posting
A writer under the name "Claire Crawford" wrote the story shortly after the Houston Rockets lost to the Thunder in Game 1 of the first round of the NBA playoffs. UPDATE: The writer in question has reportedly been fired.
"The Rockets looked terrible in Game 1, but some say they weren't the only bad-looking people on the court," Crawford wrote. " ... This pretty blonde has been criticized by some folks in OKC for having "pudginess" around her waistline. But if she's comfortable wearing that tiny outfit and dancing for NBA fans, then good for her."
While Kelsey Williams is not mentioned by name in the story, several pictures of her accompany the article, including one from the Thunder website that includes her first name.
The article on Kelsey Williams has since been removed from the CBS Houston website, but you can view a cache version of it here. According to Zap2It, CBS Houston is not affiliated with the television network but is rather a part of CBS Radio.
As Good Morning America notes, the article in question also included a poll on the appearance of Kelsey Williams. Viewers could decide whether her look is "perfect," for a cheerleader, if her body needs "some tightening," or whether "she has no business wearing that outfit in front of people."
"What do you think?" the story states. "Is this chick 'too chunky' to be a cheerleader?"
About three hours after the story was originally posted, Busted Coverage reported that 56.6 percent of the readers thought that Kelsey Williams' look was "perfect." The site also notes that the original story included a final sentence that has been removed from the cached version.
"Either way, I wish she had a little more up on top, if you know what I mean..." the article concluded.
Instead, the end of the story was changed to praise Kelsey Williams for her looks.
"We think she's beautiful," the edited version states. "What do you think?"
The Oklahoma City Thunder0 has identified Claire Crawford's real name as Anna-Megan Raley. Her other stories on CBS Houston have reportedly involved relationship advice for both males and females.
According to the Oklahoma City Thunder1, Raley has come under fire for her remarks in this article. Many are calling for her to lose her job.
"You should be ashamed of yourself ..." wrote Ashton Foster in the comments section of the Kelsey Williams article. "This is disgusting ... You're cruel. GROW UP."
"I find this offensive and rude," added Kathy Koehn Hessel. "How would you like this written about someone you know or care about?"
Ironically, Raley herself tried out to be a cheerleader several years ago. In 2010, she wrote a Oklahoma City Thunder2 for the Houston Chronicle detailing her audition for the Oklahoma City Thunder3, a group affiliated with Houston's Major League Soccer team.
Kelsey Williams, for her part, has mainly taken the high road on Twitter. The Thunder cheerleader sent out a tweet on Thursday, several days after the offending article was posted.
We wouldn't know what blessings were if we didn't go through trials. Thank you to EVERYONE for the compassion and love today. I'm in awe.

This is not the first time a cheerleader has faced questions about her appearance. As Oklahoma City Thunder5 notes, a former Oklahoma City Thunder6 cheerleader named Kaitlyn Collins posted a Oklahoma City Thunder7 earlier this year responding to comments on a Chicago Bears fan page. The page in question included a picture of Collins along with a caption.
"Like If You Agree The Packers Have The Worst Cheerleaders In The NFL!" the caption read.
In the video, Collins holds up sheets of paper that call out the commenters on the Facebook page for their cyberbullying. The clip has since been viewed over 950,000 times.
"Thankfully I have an amazing support system full of wonderful friends and family telling me that I AM BEAUTIFUL," she concluded. "What about the people who don't have that at home? What will happen when something like this happens to them?"
