Steve Nash Ex-Wife: Is Lakers Guard Banning Alejandra Amarilla From LA To Avoid Paying Child Support?
TMZ reports that the Los Angeles Lakers guard is trying to ban Amarilla and their three kids from moving from Phoenix to LA. He apparently told her that he does not want to uproot the family when he may end up being traded away from the Lakers. However, Steve Nash's ex-wife apparently believes that the real reason for his objection is so he can avoid paying child support.
The same website reported last month that Steve Nash and his ex-wife are in the middle of a legal battle stemming from their divorce. A judge originally ruled that Amarilla is not entitled to child support because she was given millions of dollars in the settlement. Nash also argued that he already pays for much of the children's care, and he fears that if he gives Alejandra any more money, his ex-wife will spoil the kids.
However, Amarilla claims that Nash has not paid any child support, which is the real reason he does not want her to move to LA. Both Steve Nash and his ex-wife believe that the California courts would force him to pay a large amount of child support, even though the Phoenix courts have not.
Ironically, as Perez Hilton notes, Nash has said he signed with the Lakers over the New York Knicks so he could spend more time with his children.
"The No. 1 reason I signed here was because I could see my kids," Nash told the New York Times in December. " I've been back four times. The kids have been out here twice. That's more than I could have gotten from New York to Phoenix in the whole season."
A judge issued Steve Nash's ex-wife a restraining order, preventing her from moving for the time being. This will likely get settled during their trial, which starts next week.
