Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez: Will The Fight Live Up To The Hype?
In almost exactly three months, the anxiously awaited mega fight between Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This will be one of the most hyped boxing matches in several years. But will the fight really live up to its billing?
Floyd Mayweather, whether you love him or hate him, will go down as one of the greatest boxers to ever lace up the gloves. He is a slick and skillful fighter who rarely takes a flush shot.
Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez is an aggressive puncher who is capable of ending a fight with just one hook. Alvarez is very young and still improving as a boxer, but he has already defeated some very big names in the sport.
Unfortunately, Alvarez does lack experience going up against boxers with Mayweather's skillset. This has led some people to believe that he will not be able to hang with the pound for pound king on Sept. 14.
Mayweather will head into this bout trying to make it a boring fight. He knows Canelo would love nothing more than to make this fight a brawl and Mayweather will have none of that. Expect Money May to stay behind his jab and try to wrap Canelo up whenever the two come close. Mayweather has very underrated strength when it comes to clinching. If he is able to easily clinch Alvarez, then this could end up being a very boring fight.
With all of that said, we believe that Alvarez will be able to avoid an excess amount of clinches against Mayweather. That will force Money May to box whether he likes it or not. Money May will likely try to run for most of the bout, but Canelo will continue to chase him. At the end of the day, this should make for a very entertaining and exciting fight that lives up to the billing and the hype. At least we hope so!
