Jeremy Lin Rumors: Will He Be Better Than Ever Next Season?

By Brian Ethridge, Posted: 08/01/13 04:04PM EDT

Even though Jeremy Lin is not one of the best players in the NBA, that has not stopped thousands of fans from embracing him as if he was. Due to his popularity, Lin always finds himself at the center of NBA rumors and this offseason hasn't been any different.

When the Houston Rockets first acquired big man Dwight Howard this offseason, there were hundreds of rumors indicating the team would try to trade Lin away. That hasn't happened, at least not yet.

As for Lin, he tries not to stay too focused on the trade rumors. Instead, he is determined to become a better player each and every day.

"Everyday, I'm focused on becoming a better player. I'm not living in the past of Linsanity. I'm building towards the new future," Jeremy Lin said in his latest video, which concluded with a Bible verse from Philippians 3:14 shown on black screen: "I pressed on towards goal to for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

Considering Lin, 24, is still very young, it is realistic to assume that he will be better than ever for the 2013-24 NBA season. If Lin can live up to his potential and become a fulltime starter for the Rockets, Houston could easily contend for a championship.

With James Harden and Howard alone the Rockets are one of the teams many people favor to contend for a title. However, the Rockets must have a third star emerge in-order to contend with some of the other super talented teams in the NBA. The team would love it if Lin elevated his play for the upcoming season and became their third star.

Only time will tell whether or not Lin will live up to his hype and become a full-time starter in Houston. He has the talent and he certainly has the passion, but it's time for him to take another step towards greatness.
